A driver was driving his car between Rankweil and Übersaxen in Vorarlberg on Saturday evening when the car went off the road and ended up in a ditch. Both the driver and passenger then climbed out of the wreckage.
The accident happened shortly before midnight on the road between Übersaxen and Rankweil. Before a bridge, on a sharp right turn, the car left the roadway, first hitting the traffic lights and then a tree. In the end, the completely wrecked car crashed into steep terrain and came to a stop there.
Miraculously, the driver and his passenger managed to free themselves from the wreckage on their own. They climbed back to the street before being taken by ambulance to Feldkirch State Hospital. All help came too late for the car, which had to be hoisted from the slope with a recovery crane.
