The professional fire brigade of Klagenfurt had to divert to a carport fire in the Krastowitz district of Klagenfurt on Sunday night. A spread to residential buildings could be prevented.
Exactly at midnight, two cars parked under the carport and a motorcycle started to burn for unknown reasons. The fire spread to a moped and a third car. A license plate holder tried in vain to contain the fire with a hand fire extinguisher. The alerted professional fire brigade of Klagenfurt had to work with heavy respiratory protection to prevent the flames from spreading to residential buildings in the Krastowitzer settlement.
“Due to the growing fire, the area of operations was cordoned off over a large area. The professional fire brigade was finally able to extinguish the fire after 45 minutes,” reports firefighter and press spokesman Wolfgang Germ.
According to the investigation so far, the fire started in one of the vehicles and spread from there to surrounding vehicles. Arson cannot be ruled out, police said. The fire service is investigating the cause of the fire.
