120 helpers in action – 14-year-old girl disappeared during a walk

Date:

Large-scale action Sunday afternoon in Bad Goisern after a 14-year-old girl disappeared during a walk in the woods and her parents could no longer find her. 120 emergency services searched for the missing person for hours before she was found unharmed but completely exhausted.

From the viewpoint “Jochwand”, the 14-year-old was accompanied by her parents on a hiking trail on Sunday afternoon. The joint walk was to lead in the direction of the Goiserer village of Weißenbach, when the girl suddenly disappeared into the woods. A search by the parents turned up nothing, so the police and mountain rescue services were called in.

Hardly any clues
Because there were hardly any indications about the whereabouts of the wanted persons, other emergency services were called in a little later. In total, about 120 police, mountain rescue services, water rescue services, fire brigades in Bad Goisern, St. Agatha, Weißenbach and Lasern and dog handlers were involved in the search. The search areas were assigned accordingly, coordinated by a joint operational management team, and the missing person was searched on land and at sea.

Unharmed but exhausted
The search was also supported from the air by police helicopters and drones from the fire department. The redeeming news came about four hours after the disappearance: the girl was found unharmed but completely exhausted in the rugged terrain.
