Especially the Hollabrunn district in Lower Austria was hit by heavy storms on Wednesday afternoon. The heavy rainfall caused flooding in the region. Roads became rivers in the middle of the city.
According to the fire service, the region of Asperndorf and Wullersdorf was particularly affected by the storm. 40 to 70 millimeters of precipitation was recorded and was no longer recorded by the channel inlets.
The water was up to 75 centimeters high
Streets were muddy, cellars and settlements were flooded. Excavators were also used for the clean-up work, for example to clear passages and secure embankments. In some homes, the water was up to 75 centimeters high on the ground floor, according to the fire service.
Several cellars had to be pumped out and streets cleaned in Wullersdorf as well. At the Hetzmannsdorf-Wullersdorf warehouse, according to the emergency services, the entire company site was under water up to 30 centimeters. The FF Aspersdorf, Grund, Hollabrunn, Kleinstetteldorf-Eggendorf and Wullersdorf were called up with about 80 members
