The toddler’s 45-year-old father was mowing the lawn on a steep slope in the Tyrolean municipality of Waidring when the boy unnoticed climbed out of the sandbox and ran towards his father.
Arm caught in knife
The child tripped and got his right arm caught in the lawn mower blade, causing serious injuries. The father tried to turn the running lawn mower away from his son, but was unable to do so.
By helicopter to the Salzburg State Hospital
The seriously injured child and his father were flown by emergency helicopter to the Salzburg State Hospital.
