In the central Chinese provincial capital Changsha, a driver drove into a crowd, killing eight people.
Five other people were injured, three of them seriously, state news agency Xinhua reported. The incident took place on Saturday morning (local time) in the metropolis with a population of 10 million.
The 55-year-old driver was arrested by the police. The exact background is not yet known.
Randomly rammed pedestrians
A similar incident also occurred six days ago in the city of Changsha. That Sunday, a car rammed pedestrians seemingly at random along a busy intersection in the city center. According to state media reports, eight people were injured, three of them seriously.
