“Loud but peaceful” – 700 participants in the Palestinian demonstration in Bregenz

Date:

According to police, about 700 participants took to the streets during a Palestinian demonstration in Bregenz on Saturday afternoon. According to police, the demonstration was ‘loud but peaceful’. Nevertheless, several advertisements need to be created. The meeting was organized by the Socialist Youth Vorarlberg (SJV).

Three reports must be made because of the face mask ban, and two because of aggressive behavior. A report was filed on suspicion of sedition in response to a similar slogan.

According to a police spokesperson, the demonstration ended early in the afternoon. In the end, according to the police, only a handful of people from the Socialist Youth of Vorarlberg took part.

The slogan of the demonstration was ‘Freedom for Palestine’. According to Vorarlberg Online (vol.at), participants chanted “Free Free Palestine” and waved Palestinian flags and signs with slogans such as “Stop the GENOCIDE” or “Stop the killing of children”.

Recently, a social media post from SJ Vorarlberg caused a stir. In its post, which was sharply criticized by all parties, the SJV complained about a brutal war against the entire Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip and expressed solidarity with the Palestinians. The Vorarlberg SPÖ also considered expelling the responsible officials from the party and freezing its funding.
