Arson on the parliament in Vienna! As the “Krone” has learned, in the early hours of Friday morning a man set fire to a rubbish bin and moved it in the direction of Parliament. Security forces managed to extinguish the fire and the suspect was arrested.
The attack took place at around 8 a.m. at the back of parliament on Reichsratsstrasse, right next to the entrance to the Freedom Parliamentary Club.
The perpetrator poured accelerant over a rubbish bin and moved it towards Parliament. Security personnel were immediately on site and extinguished the fire.
The police were able to arrest the suspect. A motive is not yet known, the state security is investigating possible extremist or political motives.
