When a tree was crushed, the terrible accident happened on Friday in Eisenerz in the Leoben district: a tree trunk rolled over a 45-year-old, who was fatally injured. For him, all help came too late.
South of the Plattenalm, employees of a timber company were busy with woodworking on Friday morning. In the morning, a 45-year-old from Bosnia and Herzegovina started sawing a lying tree trunk into four-metre long pieces with a chainsaw on very steep terrain. The well-rested worker stood under the tree trunk with his back to the valley. As the log was cut, it suddenly slid down towards the valley and the forest worker was run over by part of the trunk.
Colleagues have reported rescue
Colleagues who noticed the accident called the emergency services and tried to provide first aid. However, the arriving emergency medical team was only able to determine the death of the 45-year-old. He suffered such a serious head injury that he died before emergency services arrived.
