A wedding party on the Westautobahn (A1) in Upper Austria, traveling in convoy, caused a great shock to other road users on Saturday. Several passengers shot out the window while driving. A large contingent of executives was deployed.
Scared motorists reported several shots on the A1 towards Vienna to the police on Saturday afternoon. As it turned out shortly afterwards, a Chechen wedding party’s convoy consisting of a dozen cars – including a Rolls Royce – had driven onto the Autobahn at Regau and two passengers had repeatedly fired single guns.
The convoy was finally stopped by police at 12:30 pm at the Allhaming-Süd rest area and all vehicles were searched. Two firearms, two combat knives and a prohibited weapon were seized.
Four men arrested
Four suspects – a Syrian (22) from Traun and a Ukrainian (27), a Russian (31) and an Austrian (all three from Linz) – were taken to the inspection of the Wels motorway police for questioning.
