Foundation management – Billionaire George Soros hands over scepter to son

Date:

American investor and philanthropist George Soros (92) hands over control of his billion-dollar foundations to his son Alexander (37). He is “more political” than his father, Alexander Soros said. One of his main concerns is the fight against the re-election of former President Donald Trump.

Born in Hungary, the enemy of many populists and as a Jew repeatedly targeted by anti-Semitic hostilities, George Soros became a wealthy man in the 1970s and 1980s as a financial expert. With his fortune, he founded the Open Society Foundations (OSF), supporting numerous projects and non-governmental organizations around the world involved in good governance, promoting democracy or liberal political initiatives. Soros is also one of the largest donors to the US Democrats.

“I wish money wasn’t such a big part of politics, but as long as the other side is doing it, we have to keep doing it,” Alexander Soros told the Wall Street Journal on Sunday. Under his leadership, the foundation will continue in his father’s path and support democracies and figures of the political left in the United States. But he also wants to campaign on other issues such as the right to abortion, the right to vote and gender equality.

Even more involvement in the US
He also wants to get more involved with the US than his father. He supports programs to encourage Latinos and African Americans to vote and calls for better communication between Democratic legislators.

“Our camp needs to become more patriotic and inclusive,” he said. “Just because someone votes for Trump doesn’t make them lost or a racist.” In December, the OSF board of directors elected Alexander Soros as chairman, according to the Wall Street Journal. He is the second youngest of the billionaire’s five children.
