Spectacular accident on Sunday evening in Kundl in the Tyrolean district of Kufstein: an 83-year-old resident drove his car over the edge of a single-lane road, after which the vehicle fell 70 meters down a slope. A tree prevented another fall into the canyon below! The accident was only noticed by a cyclist on Monday morning – the pensioner went home after the accident.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. Sunday night. The 83-year-old resident drove along the narrow path in the Saulueg district towards Thierbach. He said he was trying to avoid an oncoming car when his car suddenly went over the edge of the road.
“The vehicle then fell some 70 meters down a slope before hitting a tree and coming to a stop. This prevented another fall into the ravine below,” police said.

The accident was not immediately noticed, but only in the early hours of Monday after a cyclist discovered the crashed car. Initially, however, there was no trace of the driver.
As it turned out, the 83-year-old climbed back onto the road after the accident and went home. He may have suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
