Indictment: 17 burglaries – suspect: ‘Police pushed our DNA traces’

Date:

An accused Czech couple (32, 30) denies committing 17 burglaries in Salzburg court – despite the overwhelming evidence.

They were in the Salzburg tourist communities of Flachau, Altenmarkt, Grossarl and in Vienna and Oetz in Tyrol – but clearly not for vacation: 17 times a Czech couple (30, 32) is said to have broken into living spaces, especially hotel rooms. According to the indictment, they allegedly stole 13,000 euros. But at Tuesday’s trial in Salzburg, the two defendants denied the charges.

Hotel stays paid with mom’s money
According to the indictment, the series of burglaries should have started in December 2022 – in Grossarl. In January, the couple was in Flachau, according to hotel recordings: “What were you doing there?” asked the judge. “We went skiing,” replied the formerly flawless Czech. And in Altenmarkt? “We were in the thermal baths,” the 30-year-old replied. They want the accommodations financed with money from their mother.

They blamed the police for the seized and unmasked DNA traces: the traces on a handkerchief had been forced on them by the officers, according to the suspect. She stayed with her, although the prosecution repeatedly pointed to possible libel. The partner said something similar: he knew nothing about the fingerprints he found in Vienna. “I was with my grandfather in Brno.” Process adjourned.
