After the discovery of three bodies in a residential building in the Styrian district of Murau, the detectives were on duty all night. The dead were said to be a married couple and another previously unknown woman. An autopsy of the bodies has already been ordered.
It is not the first murder that the Styrians have to mourn this year: On Tuesday evening, after an absence notice, the police found three bodies in a house in St. Peter am Kammersberg in Upper Styria.
The National Criminal Investigation Department has been investigating at full speed all night, now there are the first details: The three bodies were found around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Earlier, there was a departure notice at the address of the family home after a man did not show up for work during the day.
The fire department opened the locked front door
With the help of the local fire brigade, police officers finally entered the locked house in the evening hours. Emergency services found three bodies there. At that point, all help came too late for them. All three people had obvious gunshot wounds, so third party negligence could not be ruled out from the start. Murder investigators and crime scene officers from the Styrian National Criminal Investigation Service (LKA) then took over the joint investigation with local police stations.
Couple from Murau district deceased, identity of other woman unclear
According to initial police findings, the dead are likely to be a couple from the Murau district. Both are registered at their place of residence. The identity of another dead woman and her relationship to the couple have not yet been clarified. The public prosecutor’s office in Leoben has ordered an autopsy on the three bodies. Experts from forensic medicine and a firearms expert also went to work that night. Their findings should now clarify the exact course of events. Further criminal investigation is still needed. There is currently no reliable information on a possible motive.
Market place with only 2000 inhabitants
On Wednesday, photos of the crime scene surfaced for the first time. This is a secluded residential building surrounded by trees. About 2000 people live in the small town of St. Peter am Kammersberg.
The Styrian police have already been confronted with several bloody crimes this year. There had been four femicides this year in the federal state alone.
