A hiker (82) suffered head and leg injuries in a fall in the Rax-Schneeberg area (Lower Austria). He was rescued by the mountain rescue service and then flown by helicopter to Wiener Neustadt Hospital.
Large-scale operation for mountain rescue and mountain police in the Rax-Schneeberg area: An 82-year-old hiker lost his balance on a ladder in the Weichtalklamm at 850 meters above sea level on Sunday and then fell backwards about six meters into the depths. The man suffered a cut to his head and numerous cuts to his legs.
Mountain rescue in action
The injured pensioner received first aid from a six-person rescue team on site and was taken by rescue helicopter to the hospital in Wiener Neustadt for further treatment. The 82-year-old was on his way with a hiking group in the direction of the Kienthalerhütte when the accident happened.
