After a three-day ceasefire, fighting broke out between the army and the RSF militia in several places in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
Fighting was also reported from the towns of Bahri and Omdurman, which border Khartoum, shortly before the end of the ceasefire at 6am local time on Wednesday. Even during the ceasefire, compliance by the paramilitary militia Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the military was sometimes not guaranteed.
As with previous ceasefires, limited fighting erupted again and again. Given this development, the US and Saudi Arabia are considering reducing their efforts to resolve the conflict.
Both countries had mediated between the civil war parties in Jeddah. Now they say they are considering postponing further Jeddah negotiations.

According to eyewitnesses, fighter jets were in action over Omdurman on Wednesday morning. Anti-aircraft fire from the RSF was also heard. An artillery position north of Omdurman engaged enemy targets. Ground fighting broke out in southern Khartoum.
