High penalties – Police attack on illegal “UFOs” in Spielberg

Date:

The emergency services are sharp against illegal drone pilots in Spielberg. If you whistle the ban, you have to dig deep into your pocket and pay off up to 22,000 euros!

Introduction, but strictly forbidden are private photos of the air above the Red Bull Ring. Nevertheless, fans continue to try to take even better photos through their illegal planes. So that they do not succeed, are drone experts from the police and the Cobra Operating Command on the spot to intercept the unnamed guests.

Waard up to 40,000 euros
Werner Lackner is the state coordinator for drone operations of the State Police. He carefully performs his 23 drone pilots. Some will be in use during the Ring Weekend and will continue to deliver photos to the Operations Center. They monitor up to 40,000 euros, arrival, departure, film, but also criminal offenses, therefore follow evidence and therefore protect evidence and therefore support them in clarification. “The drones fly a maximum of 120 meters high to not clash with the other plane,” explains Lackner. All police drones are equipped with infrared, which means that flights are also useful on the night, especially useful for search campaigns and searches.

Although Cobra drone professionals have been used in Spielberg only since Friday, various illegal devices in double digits have already been pulled out of air traffic. Kurt Kornberger, commander of Cobra Süd, explains the threat scenarios: “Every drone that cannot be assigned is intercepted.” You also do not exclude any possible attacks.

What you recognize, unauthorized drones
An automatic detection with radio or radar is recognized by unauthorized drones and then adopted using the interference. “For example, suspicious objects can be recognized by a high flight speed or their type,” explains Thomas Vahrner from the Wiener Neustadt Cobra location. Either the drone is prevented on the approach or the pilot is being investigated. And the adventure will be expensive: depending on the flight object, a maximum of 22,000 euros owes! Kornberger: “Everyone who makes his drone rise is held responsible!”
