An intensive search is underway for the missing submarine “Titan” and its five occupants from the air, on the water surface and in the depths. Support comes from different countries. Swiss submarine pilot Philippe Epelbaum cites two scenarios about the whereabouts of “Titan” in the Atlantic Ocean and defends the passengers.
“crown”: Honestly, would you have boarded the Titan submarine?
Philip Epelbaum: I can’t judge that because I don’t know the submarine. But if I had been interested I would ask for some information. It would have occurred to me that I would rather not come on board. But for a layman it is difficult to judge such a thing.
Some feel sympathy for the passengers, others don’t. What do you think?
If you embark on such an adventure, you must be aware of the danger. But the five men are not insane. Curiosity about the unknown has propelled humanity forward.
What do you think happened to the submarine?
For me there are two scenarios: Either it imploded because after the umpteenth time it could no longer withstand the pressure of the water. Or the “Titan” floats on the surface of the sea, and the passengers cannot get out because the hatch is locked. It is gross negligence if there really are no other communication and positioning systems on board.
The submarine must be controlled with a controller, as we know it from many games. What do you think?
The controller wouldn’t bother me now. If it is not exposed to outside influences, then it should fit. But what should be on board a submarine in any case: each device must be present several times, including the control unit.
Are you alluding to the lack of communication and location?
Precisely. There must be several variants of communication options. Such adventures also use different techniques for the direction-finding transmitters. So that an emergency system is always intact.
