Children had just fished a war relic from Lake Wörthersee and the next day construction workers found an object that looked like a grenade.
In Moosburg, a 46-year-old site manager sounded the alarm on Thursday evening. During excavation work he saw a striking object. Suspecting it might be a war relic, he alerted the police.
“The site was cordoned off and an explosives expert was involved in the official act,” the executive said. In fact, it turned out to be a World War II two-inch launch grenade. “It was placed in the shovel of the excavator when the troops arrived,” it is reported. As usual, the harmless and demining service was called in to professionally secure and transport the find.
