The wave of inflation continues to rage in many areas – including gastronomy! The Tyrolean Workers’ Chamber (AK) conducted an investigation and found out what you now have to pay for soft drinks, beer and the like. Conclusion: “The price increase has also reached the prices of drinks in Tyrolean inns!”
Since 2016, AK Tirol collects drink prizes in selected Tyrolean inns in September. This year there was a nasty surprise. Whereby: The result is not surprising given the inflation of more than 10 percent. Compared to last year, the average prices of regular drinks have increased by no less than 12.94 percent in 2022. According to the AK experts, only one of the 37 companies surveyed had not raised their prices at all.
Big increase in the price of lemonades
For lemonade you have to dig deep into your pockets. “A large glass of cola (0.5 liters, beware) costs between 3.80 and the unbelievable 6.30 euros. This corresponds to an average price of 4.51 euros and a price increase of 5.10 percent compared to 2021,” the AK calculates. Up to 5.50 euros are also due for a fruit juice sprayed with tap water.
For a large beer (0.5 l), on the other hand, you have to pay up to 5.60 euros in Tyrol. Those who are in a hurry and just want to treat themselves to a “whistle” (0.2 l) quickly pay up to 3.70 euros.
Tap water is also charged
In nine of the 37 participating inns, tap water is priced on the card, “with the designation varying between tap, table or spring water,” according to the AK experts. A glass of water (0.5 l) costs between 50 cents and 1 euro. “A host states that they filter the local tap water and charge 2.90 euros for a glass (0.5 l) of ‘spring water’.”
