A recent survey shows that in Austria there is still a clear majority against 100 km/h on the autobahn. As is well known, this is an important demand of, for example, climate activists of the last generation. Only 38 percent of those surveyed would currently be in favor of 100 km/h – that’s a whopping 14 percentage points more than in the last survey a year ago.
The survey was conducted by the opinion research institute Unique Research on behalf of the news magazine “Profil” (800 respondents, fluctuation range 3.5 percent). 57 percent of those surveyed continue to reject 100 km/h.
Also Babler for slower speeds on Autobahns
In addition to climate protectors, the new SPÖ boss Andreas Babler recently spoke out in favor of reducing speed on the Autobahn. He was well received by the Greens and rejected by the ÖVP and FPÖ. In the survey, 74 percent of Green voters are in favor of the lower speed limit, while 73 percent of FPÖ voters are against it.
The majority of ÖVP voters were against the restriction, the majority of SPÖ voters were in favor and NEOS voters were almost indecisive.
