On the 73rd anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, North Korea declares a “war of revenge” against the United States at mass rallies in Pyongyang. About 120,000 workers and students took part, state news agency KCNA reported Monday. Photos showed people in a packed stadium holding up signs reading “The Imperialist US is the Destroyer of Peace” and “The entire mainland US is within our firing range”.
Images of ballistic missiles in flight were also shown. Other banners said “American imperialist killers”, the mood was raised against the “sworn enemy” and called for “the defeat of the American empire”.
People at the mass rally at May Day Stadium in the North Korean capital wore. It is unclear what the corona situation is in the country. Most recently there was a lockdown in January due to “respiratory disease”.
US wants to start nuclear war
In a separate report, North Korea’s foreign ministry accused the US of making “desperate efforts to bring about a nuclear war” and sending strategic equipment to the region.
North Korea, which it says is nuclear-armed, has conducted several weapons tests, including its largest ICBM. This has increased tensions with South Korea and its main ally, the United States. In addition, the government in Pyongyang could soon launch another military spy satellite. The last attempt failed in May due to technical problems.
No peace treaty for 70 years
South Korea and North Korea are still officially at war, after the two countries agreed only to an armistice, not a peace treaty, in the aftermath of the 1953 Korean War.
