The suspected shooter (25), who shot a 27-year-old on Paltramplatz in Vienna-Favoriten in mid-June, was arrested in Liesing on Monday afternoon. The shots were fired during an argument.
Police spokeswoman Barbara Gass said the 27-year-old victim was injured by multiple shots to the leg. But the wounds were not too serious, the man had come to the hospital himself, it was said at the time.
Neither shooter nor victim were found at the scene
Shortly after midnight, several emergency calls about the shots had come in. When police arrived, neither the gunman nor the victims were at the scene. The suspect, known by name, was now on the way for a manhunt.
The suspect has so far declined to comment
“Thanks to intensive and meticulous investigation, the Viennese detectives have been able to determine the whereabouts,” the police said on Tuesday. He was arrested in Liesing around 3:40 p.m. on Monday with the help of the Cobra task force. “During his interrogation, he refused to testify,” said the spokeswoman.
