It’s every mother’s nightmare: A woman and her daughter were driving in Vienna-Mariahilf on Gumpdendorfer Strasse on Tuesday morning when suddenly a drug-intoxicated stranger held a knife to her through the open side window.
Despite panic, the mother quickly managed to close the side window. The police were immediately alerted: the woman explained to the officers that the man with the knife had also scratched the side door and the hood of her car.
Man cannot remember an act
Only a short time later, the emergency services were able to locate the suspect near the Gumpendorfer Straße U6 station – the man also had a knife with him. The suspect, a 47-year-old Turk, has been arrested. According to the Viennese police, the man could not remember the crime because he had used drugs before. He is now in prison.
Fortunately, mother and daughter were unharmed and escaped with a fright.
