Devastating, shocking or sad messages often dominate the news every day. The enthusiasm is all the greater when there is good news to report. Special praise from the König family from Rudersdorf-Berg (Burgenland) for “mutual support in society” goes to all helpers and especially to the courageous efforts of firefighter Thomas Braun.
The König family was very concerned when their Australian Shepherd dog ran away on Friday, June 16. “I came home from work and wanted to mow the lawn. ‘Joulie’ is always waiting for a reward, only not this time. In the few minutes that I got dressed, she started looking for food on her own,” says Thomas König, head of of the community.
Search in progress
With their son Alexander, the family looked for their four-legged friend – in vain until 1 a.m. It went on already at 4 o’clock. Hours later, with still no trace of “Joulie”, Thomas König asked a search dog team from Baden (Lower Austria). Despite all efforts, after more than 60 hours of fear, there was still no sign of life from the missing dog. “We were afraid of bad things.”
Suddenly a beam of light
The family was hopeful when Melanie Kroboth saw ‘Julie’ on Monday morning on Grenzweg in Limbach, not far from there. The message immediately went viral on Facebook.
The search started again with confidence, supported by Petra Wagner, head of the local nursing home, and Thomas Braun, deputy commander of the Rudersdorf-Ort fire department. The latter is a great dog lover and once had an Australian Shepherd by his side. With his experience, he was able to track down “Joulie” quickly and bring it home safely. A wonderfully fragrant piece of smoked meat helped him with that.
finally back home
“We are delighted that everything turned out well. It probably would not have been possible to find ‘Joulie’ without the great willingness of the population to help,” praises Thomas König. The family thanks them with a donation to the fire brigade.
