A terrible accident happened on Thursday near the Völkermarkt on Lavamünder Landesstraße near Dürrenmoos (Carinthia): a 23-year-old motorcyclist from Lower Austria died.
The young Lower Austrian was on his way from Ruden towards Dürrenmoos when, for unknown reasons, he encountered oncoming traffic in a right turn. “A concrete mixer was driving in the opposite direction, with which the motorcyclist collided head-on,” the police said. “Both vehicles immediately caught fire.”
The second driver was not injured
The emergency doctor and paramedic were on the scene, but unfortunately could not save the 23-year-old despite resuscitation measures – he died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the concrete mixer, a 50-year-old Slovenian, was not injured.
The scene of the accident was closed to all traffic for approximately four hours, police said. “The Völkermarkt, Ruden and St. Peter fire brigades were deployed with a total of 30 men to extinguish and rescue the vehicles, which were both total loss.”
