Because a man (59) from the Spittal an der Drau district did not return from his overnight stay at the “Tresdorfer Wölla” (in Tresdorf), his wife and daughter raised the alarm.
From Thursday to Friday, the 59-year-old spent the night in the “Tresdorfer Wölla”. On Friday, around 10 am, he wanted to go back to the valley and also told his wife by phone. “Because he did not come home and could not be reached by telephone, the woman walked from the parking lot to the hut for about an hour to see her husband,” the Carinthian police said. Then his daughter (34), who was also worried about her father, made an emergency call.
Mountain rescuers and police, including a helicopter, started a search. “During the search, the helicopter crew was able to locate the man at 5:20 p.m. in steep and untracked terrain at an altitude of 1,800 meters,” the emergency services said. The 59-year-old was rescued unharmed by rope rescue, but was flown by rescue helicopter to Lienz hospital just to be on the safe side.
