Believing that he had gone completely unnoticed, an unknown person broke into an e-cigarette shop at Wienerbergstraße 32 in Vienna-Meidling around 5 am on Thursday morning. However, the theft did not go smoothly – it took the man two attempts to enter the store and he also left traces of blood at the crime scene. Nor was he hidden from a witness.
Visibly relaxed, the unknown perpetrator put his loot in the bag on the street. Why rush for no reason? The neighborhood was dead quiet, the street still empty at this hour. There was also no security camera anywhere. However, the thief was observed. Namely from the neighbor of the shopkeeper. Smart as the woman was, she quickly captured the crime with her mobile phone camera.
The perpetrator made his escape easily
On it you see a man dressed in black with a Nike backpack, who first walks away from the crime scene deeply relaxed, before thinking about getting out of the dust after a few meters. The video footage may entertain some, but for the shop owner, the problem is deadly serious. For the second time this year, the shop on Wienerbergstrasse has been broken into. Disposable e-cigarettes were the main items stolen.
Stopped by cyclist on first burglary attempt
According to the witness, the perpetrator acted extremely clumsily during the burglary on Thursday. Half an hour before the actual burglary, he tried to enter the store, but was stopped by a cyclist. Only after the second attempt did he enter the building through the window. When he came in through the window, he may have cut himself and there were traces of blood in front of the shop.
Half an hour after the crime – at 05:30 – the shopkeeper was informed by the alerted police. The manager is angry: “It’s really annoying because it was the second time. You see the increasing poverty of the people. Some feel compelled to break in to make a living.”
