Macron cancels a state visit to Germany because of the riots

French President Emmanuel Macron canceled his state visit to Germany on Saturday because of the riots that have been going on for days. The Élysée Palace in Paris and the Presidential Office in Berlin have announced this.

Macron actually wanted to travel to Germany on Sunday for a three-day state visit, the official visit program should start on Monday.

Violent riots have broken out in France in recent days after a 17-year-old boy of North African descent was shot dead by a police officer during a traffic check in Nanterre on Tuesday evening.

In France, 79 police officers were injured and nearly 1,000 people arrested in renewed rioting on Saturday night.
