One or the other circus performance in Eisenstadt (Burgenland) had to be interrupted. The reason: a caravan suddenly caught fire on Saturday afternoon. Three fire brigades had to go out to fight the flames.
At 1:30 p.m., the siren sounded in Eisenstadt. When the fire brigade arrived, a caravan placed directly between the circus tent and the animal enclosure was completely engulfed in flames.
Dense cloud of smoke
A “Krone reading reporter” was also on the scene and reported on a cloud of smoke that could be seen from miles away. The video sent to the “Krone” also shows the smoke spreading over the lanes to Haidäckerpark.
The fire spread to the circus tent
The first extinguishing measures were taken using a HD pipe. With united forces we managed to get the fire under control, part of which has already spread to the tent. Damage to people and animals can be prevented.
According to the Eisenstadt Fire Department, the water supply was extremely difficult, but could be maintained at all times with the support of the police. Troops from the Red Cross and Burgenland Energie were also involved.
It is still unclear why the circus wagon caught fire.
