“Sadistic side” – German poisoned his friend’s wife and grandmother

Date:

In Germany, a 42-year-old man is said to have fatally poisoned his wife with the heavy metal thallium. After her death, he allegedly poisoned his new girlfriend and her grandmother (see video above). He was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday.

The incidents took place in 2020 and 2021. The man is accused of poisoning a total of three women. While his wife and his new girlfriend’s grandmother died, the new girlfriend survived the poisoning. The 42-year-old was therefore charged with double murder and attempted murder. The “thallium” process has been dragging on since September.

Thallium acts as a cell toxin in the body. Only 1.5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight is enough to cause symptoms of poisoning such as nausea and vomiting. Although the defendant has denied the charges, he was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday. “From today’s perspective, you should never be free again,” said the judge of the Cologne regional court. There the special gravity of the debt was determined.

The man showed no pity, saw the fear and even looked at death. The suspect had “a perverse, sadistic and cruel side,” the judge said. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
