The jury has highlighted the implementation and execution of “a new management model fully aligned with the SDGs”.
BBK President Xabier Sagredo (Portugal, 1975), has been voted ‘CEO of the Year’, in the Corporate Sustainability category, in the European CEO Awards 2023organized by the specialized magazine European CEO. These awards, which each year reward leading managers, companies and campaigns in various economic sectors in the European sphere, have appreciated the implementation and execution of “a new management model fully aligned with the SDGs” by the head of the banking foundation.
As BBK recalled, with this award the award organization recognizes the work of managers “who are pushing the boundaries to make Europe the prosperous international business center it is today”.
In the case of the chairman of BBK, the selection jury appreciated “the implementation and execution of a strategy for sustainable competitiveness that is fully aligned with the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda”. Likewise, he emphasized “the great international repercussions” of the “Bihar: Choose Tomorrow” campaign, with which the BBK Foundation launched the “new governance model” promoted by Sagredo.
Sagredo won in its category, Corporate Sustainability, against finalists such as Yvon Chouinard, founder and CEO of signature mountaineering brand Patagonia; Mads Nipper, CEO of the Danish renewable energy company Orsted, and Velislava Ivanova, Sustainability Director of the professional services company Ernst & Young.
In previous editions, the European CEO Awards have honored state managers such as María Dolores Dancausa, CEO of Bankinter, José Luis Blanco, CEO of Nordex-Acciona, or Adolfo Orive, CEO of Treta Pak.
