It is probably the nightmare for all parents: a mother living in Graz was on Thursday afternoon with her three children on the doorstep in the Fröbelgasse (district of Lend) when her three-year-old son broke away from her and ran into the street. He was run over by a vehicle, but luckily suffered no life-threatening injuries.
Around 5 p.m., the mother (24) who lives in Graz and her three children stood on the doorstep in Fröbelgasse. A 73-year-old motorist stopped at the crossing. After no cross traffic approached and the 24-year-old standing on the sidewalk talking to her children and not seeming to want to cross, the 73-year-old continued on her way. When she was almost across the shelter, she heard a dull thud.
Suddenly torn apart
The three-year-old boy had apparently torn himself free from his mother and ran sideways along the protective path into the car, the boy’s right foot also being run over by the vehicle. The 73-year-old stopped immediately.
The three-year-old received first aid from the Red Cross and was transported with his mother to the children’s clinic at the Graz Regional Hospital. There was a foot fracture. After outpatient treatment, the boy was sent to home care with a plaster cast.
