“Isn’t that the one from TikTok?” a girl in Landl said excitedly to her friend as she watched a trial with her school class before the holidays. Many young people know the Viennese lawyer Sascha Flatz.

Criminal lawyer as internet star
Because in addition to his job as a criminal lawyer, the 45-year-old regularly publishes short videos on current legal issues on the youth platform: “I want to create clarity and prevent young people from ruining their lives through unnecessary actions,” explains the lawyer in an interview with “Krone” .

The spectrum runs from “Be careful, your car may soon be impounded” to “I have these rights against the police”. His video about when you can wear pepper spray reached no less than 650,000 hits!

Worked from the bottom up
“That was when several girls were raped in Vienna’s parks,” says the native German, who comes from a difficult social background himself: “My teachers saw me more on the other side than on the legal side,” Flatz smiles. First he worked as a cook, waiter and insurance broker, later he obtained his HAVO diploma.

Love and studies brought the TikTok lawyer to Vienna, where he has been running a law firm for nine years. “Young people need to know the consequences of crimes,” he wants to continue pushing his social media appearances.
