A motorcyclist (22) from Vöcklabruck had his stunt attempts on Rossfeld (Bavaria) fatal. The powerful motorcycle captured two children and a man who was filming. The day after the accident, the horror of emergency services and first responders is palpable.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this,” says an experienced aid worker about what happened on Saturday night at Rossfeld near Berchtesgaden. A motorcyclist from the district of Vöcklabruck (22) practiced daring driving maneuvers on the panorama road (1,590 meters above sea level) in the Austria-Bavaria Border Area. A Hallein (19) filmed the courage tests, probably with his mobile phone. Suddenly the motorcyclist lost control of the wheel, rammed the 19-year-old with full force. The steering wheel and machine slid around 50 meters on tarmac, thundering into the minibus of a local family. The parents wanted to watch the sunset with their two daughters (aged four and seven). Instead, helicopters flew the girls with leg injuries to the Salzburg University Hospital. The pregnant mother also came to the hospital The suspicion: the shock may have caused a ruptured membrane.
Hüttenwirt was the first to rush to help
The first responder at the scene of the accident was hut manager Christoph Plank. “We were just about to drive away when someone stormed up to us and said there had been a serious accident,” he recalls. The volunteer firefighter got an idea of the situation and his wife called from the Rossfeldhütte. No one has helped at this point. On the contrary: parts of the bystanders fled. Unbelievable for Plank: “If my friend dies, I won’t run away!” Plank attempted to resuscitate the boy. But neither he nor the crew of the rescue helicopter “Christophorus 6” could save the Upper Austrian. De Halleiner (19), who had filmed the victim’s crazy driving maneuvers, was anesthetized on the spot. A helicopter took him to Salzburg University Hospital, where he is in a coma after surgery.
The tuning and motorcycle scene in Salzburg has been in a mess for quite some time now
Time and again, representatives of the Salzburg tuning scene visit the remote street near the border. Hüttenwirt Plank wishes for the future: “That something like this never happens again and that people come to their senses.” The low toll price does not deter anyone from such crazy trips.
The police are also a thorn in the side of the motorcycle chaos: “Unfortunately, we cannot check at any time of the day or night,” says the spokesman for the record. There was an action last week. “But it’s always just a pinprick,” the police hope to gain insight from those affected.
