On Friday morning in St. Gallen, Switzerland, a 44-year-old drunk driver from Vorarlberg was fished out of traffic during a traffic check. The man was reasonably well served for the time of day (9.30 a.m.): his blood alcohol level was at least 2.64 per thousand.
The case required little forensic flair from the police officers: An impressive trace of alcohol and a bottle of white wine lying in the passenger seat suggested the driver was probably not completely sober.
And indeed: the Alcoholat showed a proud value of 2.64 promille. The 44-year-old’s driver’s license is already gone, further fines will follow. Anyone familiar with Swiss conditions knows that the mine will be quite exuberant…
