A duo stole canned goods and chocolate worth 50,000 euros from supermarkets. Child pornography was found with the man: “The age of Asian women is difficult to classify”
The unemployed duo from Romania – he is 48 years old and has five previous convictions, she is 34 and has no criminal record – went on the road from January to March 2023 in Burgenland, Styria and Lower Austria.
Up to 20 branches hit every day
At Hofer and Lidl, up to 20 branches a day were visited, in the backpacks and clothing the two smuggled tuna, chocolate and pistachios worth about 50,000 euros passed the checkout. The goods were packed in garbage bags and sold on the market in Budapest.
Admittedly, opinions differed during the trial before the Eisenstadt Regional Court. “It was not worth more than 30,000 euros,” said the suspect.
Now imagine how often you go unnoticed with canned tuna, and we don’t want to write now about why nobody at Hofer and Lidl noticed that the tuna and “Merci” were constantly out anyway:
You needed the money
The accomplice needed the money to pay back a loan. The prime suspect because his daughter goes to private school and qualified for the Math Olympiad.
“Only Skinny Young Women”
Oh yes, child pornography photos were found on the Romanian’s mobile phone. “Mrs. Rat, like any man, I’ve only looked at one website. In the case of Asian women, it is difficult to assign age. To me, they were skinny young women.”
Verdict: Three months for the woman, she was allowed to return home from custody. The man lasted eight months.
Thanks for that.
