Severe storms in the Klagenfurt area kept all fire brigades on their toes. A huge tree crashed into a kebab shop at Klagenfurt train station. Fortunately no one was injured.
Basements and underpasses under water. The fire brigades of St. Georgen am Sandhof, Kalvarienberg, St. Ruprecht, St. Peter, Haidach, Klagenfurt main station and the Viktring fire brigade were called on Monday evening. Several thunderstorms passed over the capital. The heavy rain caused flooding. Several trees also fell. A large tree fell against a kebab shop opposite the train station in Klagenfurt.
“Fortunately no one was outside at the time. Otherwise it could have ended badly,” reports deputy commander of the district fire brigade Franz Socher of the FF Hauptwache Klagenfurt. So it was only about material damage. Firefighters spent more than an hour clearing the tree. The other fire brigades were also busy into the night.
