Fatal motorcycle accident late Wednesday morning in East Tyrol: A 54-year-old German slipped on Drautalstraße during an overtaking maneuver and fell. Unfortunately, all help came too late for the motorcyclist.
The accident happened just after 11 a.m. The 54-year-old was riding his motorcycle on Drautalstraße from Sillian towards Lienz. “At that time it was raining heavily and the road was wet,” said the police.
Overtaken other motorcyclists and campers
At Strassen, the motorcyclist eventually overtook three other motorcyclists and a mobile home. “When returning to the right-hand lane, the motorcycle’s rear wheel slipped, causing it to skid,” the researchers continued.
The German then ended up with his motorcycle in the right shoulder of the road. He touched a marker post and was thrown onto the adjacent embankment. The 54-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
