The “Festa del Redentore” (Feast of the Redeemer) is a celebration of liberation from the longest plague wave Venice has ever known, lasting from 1575 to 1577. Since then, the celebration has taken place every year on the third Sunday of July. On a similar occasion, on November 21, in gratitude for the liberation from the plague in 1630-1631, the “Festa della Madonna della Salute” is celebrated.
