Up to 50 prisoners can be housed in the Rottenstein Prison (JA) – it is a department of the Klagenfurt JA, where prisoners serve a relaxed sentence and do agricultural work. A fire broke out in the area on Tuesday and according to initial information it involved the stable.
Ten fire departments from across the district – a total of 105 firefighters – arrived on scene to battle the fire. “The animals housed in the barn were rescued – no people were injured,” police spokeswoman Waltraud Dullnigg said. The state police department is on scene to begin the investigation: “The building is being burned in a controlled manner,” Dullnigg said — the stable was completely on fire.
