Serious accident in St. Peter-Freienstein (Leoben district): One driver left the track, three cars were involved in the accident. Two rescue helicopters were deployed.
The accident happened just before noon on Sunday. A 65-year-old Leobner was driving with his also 65-year-old wife from Trofaiach towards Leoben when he drove into the oncoming lane – why, according to the police, is currently unclear.
It is clear that the man collided head-on with the car of a Viennese (28) and his family. His wife (26) and daughter (1) were also in the car there. The 65-year-old then collided head-on with a third car, at the wheel of which was also a 65-year-old woman from the Leoben district.
The 26-year-old woman from Vienna and the 65-year-old driver were seriously injured in the accident. The woman from the third accident car, the 28-year-old Viennese and the passenger of the alleged tractor were slightly injured.
The road was closed for more than two hours
The emergency services left with a large contingent: the rescue helicopters C 14 and 17 were deployed, the fire brigade rescued the people with three cars and ten workers. An ambulance and four Red Cross vehicles were also present.
An alcohol test was taken from all three motorists, which was negative in all cases, the police said. The B115a was closed until shortly after 2 p.m.
