The tragic series of accidents on the roads of Upper Austria continues. The next accident happened to a motorcycle on Sunday and for the second day in a row a motorcyclist did not come home from a trip in the sun. Another overtaking maneuver had gone wrong.
In Neuhofen im Innkreis, an overtaking maneuver by a motorcyclist went wrong just before 2.30 pm. The sixty-year-old motorcyclist from Hohenzell near Ried was driving on Oberinnviertler Straße from Neuhofen in the direction of Lohnsburg when he overtook a car and another truck in the village of Gobrechtsham.

When he got back into traffic, he apparently lost control of his vehicle and ended up in the adjacent pasture, where he drove about 25 meters before he was able to steer back onto the road. But then he rammed into a metal fence by the side of the road. The engine overturned and the steering wheel stopped after 15 meters. The injured Innviertler was first helped by passers-by and then resuscitated by the rescue service. But he died at the scene of the accident.
