Nine people were killed when a house collapsed in the Egyptian capital Cairo. Among them is a four-year-old boy. Four other people were injured and were rescued from the rubble.
The state news site “Al-Ahram” reports this on Monday. The families of the nine deceased should each receive 60,000 Egyptian pounds, about 1,700 euros. The collapse occurred in a northern district of Cairo.
He is the latest in a series of similar cases. Just three weeks ago, a 13-story apartment building collapsed in the coastal city of Alexandria. Ten people were killed as a result. Recently, a ten-year-old boy died in a new collapse in the north of the country.
Violations of technical requirements
In Egypt, building was and is still being done without a permit. This often violates technical safety requirements. In addition, the supervision of the authorities is considered negligent, which is likely a reason for the violations. In recent years, the government has already tried to act against illegal construction.
