In Welten in the district of Jennersdorf (Burgenland) an accident took place on Saturday morning during forest work. A retiree was seriously injured.
The man wanted to remove a tree whose roots had already broken off. He tried to cut through the trunk completely. Unfortunately, the tree fell and hit the pensioner and got himself trapped too.
His wife, who was also present, then unsuccessfully tried to save her husband. Fortunately, the man himself was able to make an emergency call. The fire brigade and ambulance rushed to the scene to attend to and rescue him. The seriously injured pensioner was then flown to the hospital in Graz by emergency doctor helicopter “C16”.
