As reported, a mechanical engineer from Graz has been fighting for months for his girlfriend and his Vietnam-born twins to come to Graz. Now even the Federal President is participating.
So far the battle has been in vain, according to Christoph R. (pictured below with his girlfriend Thu) you fail due to new official stumbling blocks. Although the children are Austrians, the mother is also an internationally active specialist.
Only the woman had to tremble for the life of the premature babies, the father could only see his little ones when they were already four months old. “I only see her growing up over the phone,” he says bitterly. “And that’s because the authorities decide the fate of our family with a brushstroke.”
Apply for a new visa
The Vietnamese grandmother was also refused a tourist visa. But now there seems to be finally some movement in this endless story. “My girlfriend has been able to apply for a new visa, we sincerely hope that the Austrian embassy approves it,” says Christoph R.
And: After Governor Christopher Drexler had already assured that he wanted to build bridges, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen also became involved. “I can inform you that the Austrian presidential office has contacted the Austrian embassy in Hanoi and that your case is pending,” the father said from his office. He says: “I trust that a solution will finally come. We can only pray and hope.”
