Thanks to the attention of a neighbour, the police caught a burglar red-handed in Feldkirch last Friday. The 52-year-old criminal initially fled from the executive, but did not get far. He is accused of various crimes in Austria and neighboring countries.
Suspicious manipulation of a window in the apartment below called the resident of an apartment building in Feldkirch’s Fidelisstrasse to the scene just before midnight on Friday. Knowing that the neighbors were on vacation, he immediately called the police.
The police were faster
They found a man on the spot who ran away as soon as he saw the officers. He fled via a staircase towards Ardetzenbergstraße. After a short chase on foot, however, it soon became clear that he had to lose out to the fit police officers. The 52-year-old was caught and arrested.
No action
It later turned out that the criminal had already committed several burglaries in Germany and surrounding countries. In the hotel room of the suspect, the police seized a number of stolen goods. Most of them have already been assigned to those who have been robbed. Only a wooden watch from the Waidzeit brand is still waiting for its rightful owner. They can contact the Feldkirch Police Inspectorate (tel. 059133-8150).
Based on the stolen goods, it could be proven that the crook had committed another completed burglary and an attempted burglary in the Feldkirch area in the period from 10 to 14 July. The suspect was transferred to Feldkirch Prison by order of the Public Prosecution Service.
