The day ends with a bad story. In the south of Upper Austria, a young farmer was killed with his tractor. The rescue chain works perfectly, but the helpers didn’t stand a chance.
The 31-year-old driver of the tractor lost control of his implement on Sunday afternoon in Laussa, Steyr-Land district, in the so-called Pechgraben. According to initial information, the tractor overturned several times and the young farmer was catapulted from the driver’s cab.
Rescue helicopter in action
Four fire brigades arrived on the scene to rescue the seriously injured and recover the tractor. The Red Cross troops were also deployed and the rescue helicopter was also sent to get to the more remote location more quickly.

On site, the helpers tried to bring the 31-year-old back to life. But the young farmer received serious injuries and died at the scene of the accident. The emergency services also needed help after the major operation – many knew the victim – and are being cared for.
