The lehendakari and the President of the Euregio and of New Aquitaine Alain Rousset will meet this Tuesday with Adina Valean to discuss progress on the Atlantic Corridor linking the Iberian Peninsula with South West France.
The Lehendakari of the Basque Government Inigo Urkullu informed the Board of Directors that both he and the President of New Aquitaine, Alan Roussetwill meet with the European Commissioner for Transport, adina valian tomorrow Wednesday.
That is what the spokesman for the Basque government said. Bingen Zupiria, at a press conference after the Board of Directors, which stressed that the meeting will be held by video conference and which one will aim developments related to the Atlantic Corridor what would unite the iberian peninsula with the French southwest.
This is a project that fits within the objectives of the ecological and energy transitions and which is part of the trans-European transport network established in 1996.
In this meeting, the Lehendakari will demand it the Bordeaux-Hendaye-Vitoria-Gasteiz interconnection will be completed on time and in good shape by 2030 and that priority should be given to these cross-border connections between European investments in the context of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
The spokesman for the Basque government has also emphasized this Urkullu will convey his concern on the current state of implementation of this interconnection and will underline the need to new high-speed line up to the gate connecting the Bordeaux-Dax line to the Basque ‘Y’, in such a way as to respect the obligations in European regulations and to guarantee interoperability.
