It should have happened in seconds: A branch hit a 34-year-old during forestry work in a forest near Reichraming (Upper Austria) so unluckily that he bled to death within moments. The victim was incredibly unlucky. Just before the accident, he was still on the radio with his colleague at work.
That happened: the 34-year-old forest worker – a Bosnian who lives in Styria – was working with two colleagues in a forest near Reichraming in the Traunviertel on Tuesday. The 34-year-old himself was about 150 meters below the forest road.
Working with the “peregrine falcon”
His job was to tie trees to a rope, which one of his colleagues then pulled into the street. With the “peregrine falcon”, as the device used for this is called in professional jargon. The Bosnian radioed that his colleague could get dressed upstairs. However, the tree came loose – and the accident took its course.
All help came too late
An apparently sharp branch struck the worker standing below in the most unfortunate way. The emergency services, including the team of the rescue helicopter “Christophorus 10”, were unable to help the 34-year-old.
